Textured Earth celebrates the work of fiber artist Jessica Cavaliere, who paints with wool. Through wet felting and needle felting, she turns soft, unspun roving into landscapes that glow with color, texture, and movement. Her needle felting process is often compared to tattooing: a barbed needle guides tiny wisps of wool into fabric, layer by layer, until a scene comes to life.
Jessica believes that in the rush of daily life, we rarely pause to appreciate the art nature offers us. Her work is a gentle invitation to do just that. Up close, you will find depth, layers, and surprising complexity in a medium that is natural in itself, yet wonderfully unexpected. This is a show that rewards a closer look.

Jessica Cavaliere- Artist Statement
Through my artwork, I strive to capture the beauty, movement and abundance of color found in nature. As a result of daily struggles, we rarely stop to appreciate the art that nature provides. Taking the time to slow down and see the beauty in every day has inspired me to focus on landscapes and animals in my work. My purpose is to draw in the viewer through color, texture and movement, and encourage a moment to pause, reveling in the beauty of nature.
My chosen medium is wool and my artwork is created through the process of both wet felting and needle felting. I strive to recreate the world around me with wool- to push the boundaries of what can be depicted with a medium that is natural in itself, yet unexpected. In using this organic medium, I invite the viewer to lean in closer- to take in the layers and complexities of nature, to reach out and touch the work to more fully experience the texture of the world around us.
