Peter David Harris is a mixed-media painter from Denville, New Jersey. Peter creates primarily in his signature style with acrylic mediums and collage. A life-long love for nature, its patterns and textures is featured strongly in his assemblages, landscapes, paintings and drawings. Peter creates enchanted icons of nature in visionary landscapes and abstracts.
Peter studied visual arts at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver, CO 1998-1999. Enamored by the gorgeous foothills and Rocky Mountains, his early oil landscapes cast rock formations and forest groves in a delirious and joyful light. Artwork has provided a meditation over the years whereby his deconstruction and refining of religious and philosophical understanding echo in painterly fragments.
Peter’s landscapes evoke strange and wonderful sentiments. Order weaves with chaos; rapture coexists with despair; the natural mocks the artificial or may defer to it. Foreground and background inversions tease the viewer’s focus and periphery. A hundred little worlds emerge and dissolve in the textures of this artist’s intricately fashioned canvases. His work can suspend those moments of quiet introspection during a woodland walk rendered in cut diagrams,
flyers, sheet music, calendars, and found items. Each form extracted from a different world surrenders its identity to a gorgeous ecology of light, color, and pattern.
